Ferris has been building independent suspension into ride-on mowers since 1998, longer than any other manufacturer. The IS® and ISX™ systems use automotive-style coil-over shocks at the front and rear, so each wheel moves independently of the chassis. When a wheel hits a bump, the shock absorbs the impact before it ever reaches the frame, the deck, or the operator. The cutting deck itself is mounted on a reactive system that floats in harmony with the wheel movement, raising and lowering in sync to maintain a consistent cutting height across uneven ground and prevent scalping.
